Lola and Cruz's birthdays are only 2 weeks apart...so, this year, Lola graciously offered to share her birthday party with Cruz. We asked Cruz, and he said he didn't mind....so we went with it.
I went to Hobby Lobby for the plates and napkins....and of course, knew Lola would LOVE the zebra stuff....so I picked that up, and then had to find something for a one year old boy that would go with the zebra stuff. The cowboy handkerchief napkins worked....so we made it a zebra/cowboy party. Let it be known: all that means...is that our plates and napkins were zebra and cowboy...we had no games or anything else to go with our "themes"...
So..the day before the party, Lola helped me make the cupcakes...
And then, the night before the family birthday party, we last-minute-decided to have friends over for pizza....So...we used some of the cupcakes, and then Lola made these 'rainbow glasses' for herself. (I jut had to share these glasses....she does stuff like this all of the time....she is SO creative!)
Now, a picture of Lola's "cake"....complete with zebra candles, and a zebra lego piece...
Lola thought it was very important that I put a picture on showing the crushed candy cane pieces that were topping the cupcakes. They were actually a very yummy addition!
I was not very creative with Cruz's 1st birthday cake...poor 4th kid... :) I just put the cupcakes in a shape of a "one" and covered them with sprinkles.
Jason went and picked up some TJ's Pizza...and Grandma and Grandpa Tractor and Rod and Nancy the the kids came over for the party. (None of my family was able to make it...but the kids ALWAYS love playing with Mason, Cagney & Devin!). Cruz had lots of fun eating grapes a pizza!
The kids had a lot of fun at their table too....and they actually ATE!
(Sometimes no eating gets done at all....)
Then we sang happy birthday to Lola...I think she was concentrating more on smiling for the camera than everyone singing to her....it was super adorable!
We then sang happy birthday to Cruz. Keaton was very worried that Cruz was going to start the house on fire with his candle.... and Cagney had to hold Nash back from blowing out the candle before the song was even over.
Cruz LOVED eating his cupcake (however, they were pretty dry....so it mostly just crumbled....I think I need to start using a different bakery ;)
Then the kids played "Headbands" and had so much fun. They really played well together again. I was just amazed that they were sitting down playing this organized game so nicely...even NASH! Cagney is a little 'teacher' and really guides Nash along. I love it!
Cruz mostly hung out at the table with the adults...mostly so he didn't mess up their games...
We then opened presents....
Lola loved her journal from Rod & Nancy....she actually LOVED all of her gifts!
Cruz had fun too....
Then...he crawled over and somehow got himself under the chair...eating little dorito pieces from the taco pizza....mmm. delicious!
I had to share this picture....because this is a rare sight. Grandpa Tractor holding Cruz. He loves his grandkids...but doesn't usually hold them. :) Cruz crawled over and tried climbing up his leg, so he couldnt' resist!
We had a great birthday party. We all like having people over...and I am so thankful that our basement remodel is done....because it is perfect for company!
Both Cruz and Lola had a very happy birthday party!
