This was actually all back in mid July...but it was a great summer day.
One of my all-time favorite friends, Lynn, was home with her family for the weekend. It had been a long time since we had been able to hang out with our husbands and kids...but it was finally working out! Back when Keaton & "Blonde Lilly" were little, we had lots of playdays...but as our kids have gotten older, sports and school schedules have made it harder to get together.
Lucky for us, the stars aligned, the kids stayed healthy, the weather was perfect, AND I found a babysitter for Cruz. We were able to spend the day with Lynn, Chris, Lilly, & Fletcher out on the river! We started out early (like 9 AM) because we figured that Nash would be hitting "the wall" by noon... Little did we know they would all be troopers!!! Here is a picture of all 5 kiddos...
The kids LOVE waving at the boats we meet...general river rules...always, always, always wave at every boat. Our kids learn the 'boat wave' very early on in life.
We got to the sandbar and had the most relaxing day! Lynn and I were able to sit and visit in beach chairs....the husbands hung out on the front of the boat...and the kids played and played and played in the water and on the sandbar. They had a wonderful time....and I don't think that there were ever any fights or hurt feelings! Amazing.
We had a picnic on the boat for lunch...and actually stayed out until 3:00!!! The kids were excellent (even Nash) and Cruz had a lot more fun at home with the babysitter than he would have on the river in his choking life jacket. (Life jackets are very uncomfortable when you don't have a neck)....
When we got back to our house, our friends stayed for a few more hours...the kids played, the adults chatted, and we ordered pizzas for supper. We really had a WONDERFUL day and were so happy that our families mesh together so well!
